24th Jun 2012. Second Match of Northern Premier Division of the National Junior League.
Amongst some fine individual results at the second match of Northern Premier Division of the
National Junior League at Gateshead was a New U20 Ladies Club 4 x 400m Record of 4 mins 01.88
secs, by Sophie Woollin, Zoe Kerins, Bethany Sharp & Sally Smith.
Also outstanding were Scott Atkinson (1st 400m 49.33s) & U17 William Rotherforth (1st ‘A’ 200m
22.61s), with grade 1 performances, and we also had fine grade 2 performances by Scott Atkinson

23rd/24th Jun 2012. Wakefield Harriers Competing in the Olympic Trials.
Our international athletes Charlene Thomas and Martyn Bernard were competing at the Aviva
Olympic Trials & UK Championships at Birmingham, but both had a disappointing
weekend, finishing just out of the medals with 4th place finishes. Martyn's High Jump was well below his best, as he could
only manage to clear 2.16m, and in a tactical 1500m final Charlene finished 4th in 4m 23.13s.
As they are both still short of achieving the 'A' standard, and others in their events have
done so, then Olympic selection is now looking very doubtful. However they still have a good chance
of international selection for the European Championships, which start this week.
Jack Hallas also competed at the trials, and was 4th in his 800m heat in 1m 51.81s.

years ago by Matthew O'Connor, by just 5/100ths of a second. Another to achieve a Grade 1
