Since the Wakefield Hospice 10K Road Race started in 1996 the club has incorporated the
Wakefield Harriers 10K Club Championships in the event.
The course has changed several times
over the years, so direct comparisons of times are not really possible,
but the fastest times by a Wakefield Harrier have been the 31 mins 16 secs from Mark Bostock
in 2022, and the 33 mins 40 secs by Penny Thackray in 2001.
Penny won the Championship 5 times, as has Helen Singleton, and the most frequent men's winners
have been Chris Price with 4 victories, and Craig Heppenstall with 3.
Matthew O'Connor & Mark Bostock have been the only outright winner of the men's race, and
Penny Thackray, Aine Hoban, Julie Briscoe, Helen Singleton, Jenny Latham & Lucy Robinson have each won the ladies race outright.
To further illustrate the strength of our ladies, twice our top lady has beaten our first man home, with Penny Thackray being the first Harrier
to finish in 2000, and Julie Briscoe repeating the feat in 2008 !
