Wakefield Harriers 10K Club Championships

Since the Wakefield Hospice 10K Road Race started in 1996 the club has incorporated the Wakefield Harriers 10K Club Championships in the event. The course has changed several times over the years, so direct comparisons of times are not really possible, but the fastest times by a Wakefield Harrier have been the 32 mins 05 secs from Andrew Johnson in 1998, and the 33 mins 40 secs by Penny Thackray in 2001. Penny won the Championship 5 times, and the most frequent men's winners have been Craig Heppenstall and Chris Price, with 3 victories each. We have had no outright winners of the men's race, but Penny Thackray, Aine Hoban, Julie Briscoe & Helen Singleton have each won the ladies race outright. To further illustrate the strength of our ladies, twice our top lady has beaten our first man home, with Penny Thackray being the first Harrier to finish in 2000, and Julie Briscoe repeating the feat in 2008 !
