There was an excellent turnout of over 300 athletes for the Spring Open Meeting, sponsored by Wakefield District Housing, with visitors from all over the North of England visiting us at Thornes Park Stadium. On a very warm day, ideal for sprinters, the club's star performer was Grace Eyles. She jumped a New U13 Club Long Jump record of 4.75m, breaking Naida Bromley's previous mark, and also ran a New U13 Club 200m record of 27.2 secs. In the same race Sophie Ellerker also equalled Lucy Holmes' old record of 27.9s, and continuing the fine performances in the U13 age group Hannah Yates had a fine Shot Putt victory with 8.27m, and Olivia Radcliffe had a good winning run in the Girls 800m in 2 min 33.5s.
