We have an outstanding group of girl sprinters at the club at the moment, and two of them were in record breaking form on the first day of the England Athletics U15/U17/U20 Championships, at the EIS in Sheffield. Amelia Bunton came an excellent 7th in the final of the U15 Girls 60m in 7.98s, after running a New U15 Girls Club 60m Record of 7.96 secs in the semi-final, and after first breaking the record with 8.01 in her heat. This would have been a new U17 Club Record as well, but a few minutes earlier Leonie Ashmeade beat her to it, running a New U17 Women's Club 60m Record of 7.92 secs in her heat, before coming 6th in her semi-final in 8.00s. Rachel Crorken also did well to come 6th in the U17 Women's 300m in 41.82s, after running 41.13s in her heat.

Our two gold medallists - Abby Ward and Aran Thomas
The second day was an extremely successful one for the club, with two gold medal winners. Amelia Bunton returned to come a superb 4th in the U15 Girl's 200m in 25.70s, after winning her semi-final in another new PB of 25.57s. This is probably a new club record indoors, and is not far off Sarah Atkinson's outdoor club record of 25.4s, set more than 30 years ago.
