26th Jul 2015. Jenny Latham Wins Outlaw 'Ironman' Triathlon.
We don't normally mention other sports on the club website, but the achievement of club member Jenny Latham on winning the Outlaw 'Ironman' Triathlon in Nottingham definitely deserves praise! Of the individuals competing, she finished the event in 18th place overall, and easily first lady, in the outstanding time of 9 hrs and 56 mins. She completed the 2.4 mile swim in 56 mins, the 112 mile cycle in 5 hrs 36 mins, and then the 26.2 mile marathon run in 3 hrs 16 mins, a staggering feat of endurance. To put that in perspective, only 7 ladies from the club (including Jenny herself) have ever run quicker in a marathon, so to run that time after such a long swim and ride is outstanding.
Nicky Steel was also competing in the 3rd stage as part of a family team, and completed the marathon run in 3 hrs 24 mins.

There is a nice feature on Wakefield Harriers in this week's edition of Athletics Weekly. Well done to Club Secretary Sally Holmes for arranging to gets us featured there.

1st Jul 2015. Thornes Park 'Run in the Sun' Races.
The new Thornes Park 'Run in the Sun' Races, organised by Wakefield Council and with assistance from Wakefield Harriers, proved to be aptly named as they were run in heatwave conditions. The 4 Mile race was won by 2nd claim member Adam Peers, with Chris Ward first home from the club in 3rd, followed by Peter McNamara in 7th and Selim Khan 9th. First lady to finish was Katie McHale in 13th, then Nicky Steel 17th and Eileen Mannion 28th.
Chris Ward had earlier warmed up by winning the 2 Mile race, with U16 Abby Brooke first lady. Download results in XL for 2 Mile Race and 4 Mile Race
