On a perfect morning for running there were some excellent times at the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash 10K, the highlight being a time of 34 mins 49 secs by Julie Briscoe, just a few seconds off her club F40 record. As usual the standard was high, and in a very large and top quality field Julie finished 19th lady and 1st F40.
In his first 10k road race young Ben Read made a great debut with his time of 32:46, which moves him up to 21st on the club all-time list, one second ahead of Matthew O'Connor, who was just behind him in the race in a new PB. Also moving up the all-time list was top M40 vet Paul Marchant with an excellent 33:13, and there was also a fine new PB from M40 Stewart Knowles with 34:44. Other Wakefield men breaking the 40 minutes barrier were Glenn Shelley with 38:42, M50 Chris Rippon with 38:44 & M45 Marwan Khoueiry with 39:03. All the times quoted are individual 'chip times'.
