The club once again turned out 2 full teams of 10 to compete in the Bradford Millennium Way Relay,
a challenging long distance off-road relay of 47 miles, involving 6300 ft of climbing.
We had an excellent ladies team out this year, and they did very well to finish in 21st place overall
out the 50 competing teams, and 2nd in category. They were actually the first ladies team to finish, in
18th overall, and would have won the Ladies team trophy if they hadn't incurred a 10 minute penalty after
the misfortune of Faye Beckett injuring herself on the final leg, and being unable to complete her run with
Jenny Latham.
Jenny was easily the fastest lady on leg 5, even after stopping for several minutes with Faye.
The men's team performed well too, coming 8th overall after Chris Ward and Adam Peers got them off to
a flying start by coming 2nd on leg 1.

12th Apr 2015. Wakefield Harriers Spring Open Meeting.
This year we were unlucky with the weather, with the gale force winds and heavy rain meaning that several field events
had to be cancelled or curtailed. We also lost use of the electronic timing after the first few events.
So we need to thank all the officials and helpers for all their hard work in the difficult conditions.
In spite of the weather there were still some good Wakefield results to celebrate.
Abby Ward was the top performer of the day with her winning leap of 1.75m in the High Jump, which had to be held indoors.
There were Grade 2 performances from Amanda Shaw (3rd SW 100m 12.4s) & Lucy Holmes (2nd SW SP 10.88m),
and Grade 3 performances from Faye Mitchell (4th SW 100m 12.6s), Kieran Thackray (1st SM HT 44.47m),
Charlotte Sampson (3rd U17W 100m 12.8s) & Olivia Roe (1st U13G 100m 14.0s).
We had a great turnout of U11 athletes from Wakefield, with victories in all the girls events from
Maddi Sharp (80m 11.7s & SP 5.32m), Brodie Ashton (600m 2m 01.9) & Eleanor Rayner (LJ 3.54m).
