Midweek Distance Running League Sixth Meeting - Newmillerdam Results & Report by: Ron Needham
25th November 1999 - Newmillerdam
An excellent turn-out of 17 participants - by far the largest number participating in any of our events. If we add to these our university contingent and those kept away by work commitments, we should get into the 20s in December.
We hope those making their first appearances enjoyed it so much they will return for the future fixtures (last Thursday in every month).
The event was won by Adam Cooper, only a few weeks away from reaching Vet status, with Dot Hand continuing her run away lead in the Ladies section.
Many thanks indeed to Steve Wilkinson and Dave Brailsford for organising the course - interesting and just about the right distance. Again, we proved that it is possible to run a safe event in darkness (which is more than can be said for cycling). Only one runner got lost, but that was Val, who has done it so many times now, we don't count her.
Today's table sees a new leader in the clubhouse - Mike Logan, closely followed by Richard West - the pressure's now on fellers.
