The course was very difficult, and very steep in places. Also the warm weather left many athletes struggling.

Dave Brailsford was the first Wakefield Harrier home in fifth place in 32 mins 31 secs. Clive Grace was seventh in 32:48.

A small group followed led by Richard West in tenth in 33:40, Stuart Butler 11th (33:57), Steve Wilkinson (33.59), Dave Price 14th (34:15), and Mike Logan 26th (36:23).
