Griffiths ran a great tactical race over the 1500m event. She led for most of the way round the 200m indoor circuit and held off a strong challenge on the last lap to record a fine win in a time of 4 mins 27.07 secs. - a new Welsh allcomers record.

Notable competitors in the other events were Ben Flint, men's pole vault, who was second with 5.00m, and Jo Jennings, women's high jump, who cleared 1.83m competing as a guest.
