The race attracted some of Britain's top athletes and was won by Lynn MacDougall, of Glasgow, in 33 mins 51 secs.

The Wakefield Harriers runner completed the course in 35 mins 40 secs.

Wakefield's women athletes actually packed very well to win the team prize Alice Butler was 12th in 38 mins 00 secs and Sarah Beevers was three places down in 15th in 38 mins 47 secs.
