Shearsmith, representing Northern Vets, was a very busy athlete. He competed in three events, the 60m, 200m and 60m hurdles. His best event - and a new one for Shearsmith - was the 60m hurdles in which he gained gold in a time of 10.39 secs.

Shearsmith qualified for the 60m final and placed sixth in 8.29 secs. And he just missed out on the medals in the 200m with fourth place in 26.56 secs.
