22nd & 23rd January 2000 - NIA, Birmingham

Talented all-rounder Kerry Jury spearheaded Wakefield Harrier's three-pronged attack at the indoor multi-events tournament held at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham.

The competition was an age group pentathlon, incorporating both the AAA and North of England Championships.

Jury was supported by Ruth Laybourn in the U17 womens, and Martin Bernard in the U17 mens age groups.

Jury was delighted with her second place behind Epsom and Newell's pentathlon specialist Julia Bennett. Jury is stronger over the seven-event heptathlon.

Jury finished with a personal best 4044 points including a pb 8.66 secs in the 60m hurdles. Having just failed to clear 1.79m in the high jump, Jury had to settle at 1.76m. Bennett had an outstanding leap of 1.85m.

She never really got into the shot putt and finished with 10.57m, poor by her own admission.

A steady 5.71m from three jumps in the long jump ensured Jury held on to silver, Bennett having pulled too far clear to catch at this stage. Jury clocked 2:21.37 in the final event, the 800m.
