Wakefield Harriers fielded a strong squad to contest the first race of the Yorkshire Veterans' Athletics Association held at South Leeds.
Middleton Park offered tough racing conditions and a field of over a hundred athletes, but Wakefield still managed to produce three finishers in the top ten.
Adam Cooper was third in the men's 40 age group in 30 mins 51 secs, beating club-mate Richard West by a good distance into sixth.
David Brailsford (men's 45) was just behind West in eighth in 31 mins 53 secs.
Four Harries were placed from 15th to 21st in different age groups: Clive Grace (M40) finished 15th in 32:43; Steve Butler (M45) was 17th in 32:47; Mike Logan (M40) finished 19th in 32:50; Peter Young (M45) was 21st in 33:12.
Two Harriers had a terrific dual, Derek Price just held off Tony Audsley by ten seconds with Price finishing 31st in 34:30 and Audsley clocking 34:41 in the M45 section.
Alain Stainer (M50) was 56th in 38:23, Stuart Anderson (M60) 39:06 was 62nd, and Graham Whitworth (M50) was 76th in 43:07.
