Dewsbury 10kReport by: Bryan MurrayPenny Thackray smashed the course record and chalked up an improved personal best to win the Puma Dewsbury l0k road race. She clocked 33 mins 06 secs by slashing 26 seconds off her previous best. It was a fourth win in the event for the 26-year-old Wakefield Harriers' athlete who beat last year's winner and previous record holder Lynne MacDougall (Glasgow) into fifth place. This year's race attracted more than 1,000 runners. Thackray was also part of the Wakefield women's squad that took the team title. Other winning team members were Alex Tomkinson and Alice Butler.
