Bradford and Halifax Cross Country Association ChampionshipsReport by: Bryan Murray
February 2001 - Huddersfield
Wakefield Harriers had several athletes involved in the Bradford and Halifax Cross Country Association championships at Huddersfield
On a warm, dry day - a vast contrast to the waterlogged conditions of much of the season - the course, although testing, was firm and welcoming for the competitors.
English Schools qualifiers Jasmin Kerry, Carly Wright and Elaine Hardbattle were in contention in the U15 girls' race.
Kerry led from the start, showing tremendous form and never gave her fellow athletes a chance. She won comfortably and in style.
Hardbattle, improving with each race, ran well to pip her team-mate Wright for fourth place.
All three athletes took the team gold medals ahead of Holmfirth Harriers.
Sam Colley and Lucy Martin contested the U17 women's race. Martin, in her first competitive race for over 18 months, competed tremendously well on a testing course to finish fourth, and Colley also found the conditions to her liking to place fifth.
