Several Harriers competed in the Sheffield Open Cross Country Races held at Graves Park Sheffield
on Saturday 29th Dec. The conditions were dry but extremely windy making the race an excellent
warm up for next Saturday's Yorkshire Championships on the 5th Jan.
The Under 13 Girls race was well represented with exceptional runs from Olivia Radcliffe
and Libby Greatorex finishing 1st and 3rd respectively. The Girls team finished 1st overall with Beth Sharpe the
3rd counting runner in 6th place. Sally Spurr's winter training is also starting to show through
with good progress. Annabelle Mason also ran well finishing a creditable 14th out of 22, even
though she is still an Under 11, and will be a welcome addition to next years U13 Girls team.
The Under 15 Girls race was won by Lauren Proctor with an excellent time beating her nearest
rival by 1 min 4 secs, which was an excellent result given the 2nd placed Hallamshire runner
is one of the top ranked Yorkshire runners Calli Thackary. Samantha Brook came 8th and
Beck Lancaster 9th.
Tom Coney was our only representative in the U17 Boys race, picking up the 3rd placed medal.
