Christmas Handicap Race

20th December 2007 - Thornes Park

Dale Worton handed over the annual Christmas Handicap trophy he won last year to former Club Treasurer Mark Whitehouse. Mark made a surprise and welcome return, and showed us that he had been doing some secret training to win this year's race from the in form Sam Bucknell. Helen Singleton was the fastest lady as she finished 5th overall. Nathan Elliot again recorded the fastest time of the 27 runners who raced over the 4.5 mile course, running exactly the same time of 23 mins 36 secs that he ran last year !
As last year, it was a good night for the younger runners, who all performed well and made good progress from last year, which reflects well on coach Jack Howey. The handicapping worked out quite well, with nearly all runners finishing on the track together, apart from runaway winner Mark and half a dozen stragglers.
