The entrance to Thornes Park in Wakefield is situated on the A642 Wakefield to Huddersfield road,
approximately 1.5 miles from the city centre.
From M1 Junction 39
- Take the A636 towards Wakefield
- Carry straight on towards Wakefield at the 1st and 2nd roundabouts
- Go under the railway bridge
- At the next roundabout carry straight on & keep in the left hand lane
- As you approach the next roundabout, turn left immediately before the pedestrian crossing
- Follow this road right to the end
- Turn left at the junction, so you are now on the A642
- Turn left into Thornes Park after approx. 300 metres, immediately before the pedestrian crossing
- Cross Country Parking is at Wakefield College, at the top of the drive
From M1 Junction 40
- Take the A638 towards Wakefield
- Carry straight on at the first set of traffic lights
- Carry straight on at the second set of traffic lights (pedestrian crossing)
- Carry straight on at the third set of traffic lights (pedestrian crossing)
- Carry straight on at the fourth set of traffic lights (crossroads)
- As you approach the fifth set of traffic lights, (outside Morrisons supermarket) take the lane to turn right
- Turn right onto Cross Lane which is approx. in the 1 o'clock position from the lights
- The Magnet pub should be on your right
- Follow Cross Lane right to the end, as you approach you will see the stadium directly over the main road
- Turn left at the junction, so you are now on the A642
- Turn right into Thornes Park after approx. 50 metres, immediately after the pedestrian crossing
- Cross Country Parking is at Wakefield College, at the top of the drive
